Establishment of the institute

In implementation of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) No. 1/20 on May 9, 1978, the Organization’s General Secretariat established the Arab Petroleum Training Institute in Baghdad in order to raise the levels of training and development in the Organization’s countries in a manner equivalent to what is provided by international centers.

Institute objectives

  • Forming and preparing trainers and leadership levels in all technical, administrative and financial oil sectors, developing the available capabilities and enabling them with the latest educational methods.
  • Conducting research and studies related to modern methods in administrative and professional work, the methodology of education and training methods, workforce problems, and the productive efficiency of the human resources necessary for Arab projects.
  • Creating an information and documentation system to serve research and studies on the Arab workforce and develop information and technological knowledge in all areas of education, training and administration.
  • Seeking to increase training areas in coordination with international and regional offices and companies to implement training courses to transfer modern technologies.

Institute courses

The Institute implements training courses in all technical, administrative, financial, economic, legal and information fields.

The courses are implemented in Arab capitals and cities, including (Baghdad – Damascus – Beirut – Amman – Cairo – Khartoum – Dubai), and non-Arab countries and cities, including (Malaysia – Turkey) or any other country in which the beneficiary requests that the course be held.

The courses are implemented through a network of experts numbering more than (250) experts distributed in all Arab countries and from the best academic and practical experience.

Some courses are implemented in coordination with experts from major equipment manufacturers for the purpose of mixing scientific and practical applications.
